Firefox 4 Beta 2 Adds App Tabs for Keep-Open Sites

Firefox 4 Beta 2 Adds App Tabs for Keep-Open SitesWindows/Mac/Linux: Firefox is out with another beta of its improved and redesigned Firefox 4. This second early release gives Macs the same tabs-on-top look as Windows, and adds an "App Tabs" mode for sites you want to keep an eye on.

Small, favicon-only tabs have been possible in Firefox for some time now, at least through the clever use of add-ons. The new Firefox 4 simply builds in the shrink-down aspect: right-click on a tab, choose "Make into App Tab," and you'll get a sawed-off little tab on the tab bar's far-left side. I couldn't get App Tabs to re-appear when I relaunched Firefox, but Mozilla says they'll stick, and show up in their own space inside the excellent Tab Candy.

Speaking of tabs, the other major change for users in this release is that Mac testers now get the same tabs-on-top look as the previous Windows beta delivered. The one orange main button isn't there, but the general new toolbar formations are.
